My HH and crash always sound choked

Hi,

I have mapped AD2 and SSD5 (the free versions) to Maschine Mikro mk3, and I’m playing in Logic Pro X.

One thing that I have noticed is that when I play the crash or open HH, almost every time it sounds choked (very short). I have to be extremely careful to play the pad very lightly with the tip of my finger and lift it after if I want to get the longer sound of the crash loosen.

Is that normal? Any suggestion?

I have tried changing the sensitivity of the pads, but it doesn’t help. The pads need more or less pressure to activate, but I still have to remove the finger immediately, otherwise the sound is choked.

Its probably because the aftertouch triggers a choke.

You can turn that off either in your drums software or you can go into controller editor and turn aftertouch off for each pad so it just triggers hits and not the pressure after that.

You can find some choke settings on AD2 under “MAP WINDOW” → “CYM CHOKES” . Probably you should disable all Cymbal Chokes.
