I suddenly remembered I had a Maschine MK2 lying around and configured that for use with Ableton, Addictive Drums (standalone) and EZDrummer (standalone).
In midi mode I have to hit really hard to obtain higher velocities. I have set the sensitivity to max and velocity curve soft 3 works best.
But still not able to obtain maximum velocity and when hitting really hard I get most of the time 122 max. Banging insanely hard I got some 126’s…
I researched the issue on the webs and had multiple sources state that the Maschine Micro (3) has the same problem. In MIDI mode the pads are less responsive and hitting almost a “hard wall” of 120 - ish.
I was considering the Micro MK3 but if it has the same issue as the Maschine MK2 I don’t see the point…
I don’t know much about mk2 units but you can compensate stuff like this inside the velocity curves of the software drums. So in addictive drums you can adjust the curve for different kit pieces to hit the maximum velocity sooner, when the controller outputs, say, 115.
I saw your video about that and applied it in AD and EZ drummer as well.
Still not ideal though since this narrows the dynamic range if I think correctly.
Pads of the Maschine MK2 are more sensitive than the Launchpad X. With the Launchpad, if you select the most sensitive curve, the dynamic range becomes very narrow. Namely hitting the pads only a bit harder results in a very high MIDI velocity quite easily…
So, the pads in the Machine MK2 respond a lot better to low velocities…but you have to bang (much) harder to get the high velocities…
