Hi guys and girls! Basically my questions is displayed in the name of the topic. I just need some tips about that because I’m filling that I’m developing a bad habit or didn’t acknowledge the important nuance. Whenever I play beats I tend to rest my fingers on the pads especially the syncopated notes…It’s my way to relax but sometimes I feel I loose articulation on my next hits…maybe I’m tripping but I just want to clear this out.

It’s always hard to go from “rest” position to playing in my experience. I do not rest my hands on the pads, but I do experience looser notes sometimes as well
I think that a rest position with a straight (but relaxed) wrist, hovering just above the pads, is the best way to be ready to play. My thumb is also lifted… never really paid much attention to that tbh.
When you’re really not using a hand just putting it next to the controller on the table or something is fine as well by the way.

I hover just above. Generally speaking, I don’t tink my right hand ever completely stops moving. By resting, it means you’d have to lift your finger/thumb before you could play a note and anthing that’s not moving I feel is harder to maintain a rhythm.
