I wish you could run something like Addictive Drums on there. If that would be possible I’d go nuts!
I am afraid you won’t be able to run third party plugins/VSTs
Only Native Instruments ones. There are only a few supported for now, but they will add support for more in the future. You still have plenty of good drums inside NI komplete bundle.
Curiously, I’ve been doing a lot of research after I ordered my Launchpad MK3 to be able to connect it with other hardware. My goal was to go computerless and I already have decided to order a 1010music BlackBox and maybe down the road, a Behringer Synth.
Now, I don’t know anymore Ahahahah
I really like the Maschine software workflow to get creative ideas recorded very fast, but I wanted to get away from the computer screen and mouse setup. This looks almost perfect for me. I am just afraid that 4GB of ram won’t be able to handle a ton of plugins.

Looking at the software that comes with the device I cannot find anywhere that you can install Komplete on there. I don’t think you can honestly… It just comes with a couple of synths.
Sorry, I meant Kontakt and not Komplete.
From what I understand, only the Kontakt Factory Library is supported for now. But I suppose we will be able to add more libraries (like Abbey Road) in the future. They announced in the promo video that more VSTs/plugins will be added.
You can always sample the Addictive Drums sounds and use them as a sample. Maschine+ accepts up to 1TB of external storage and that’s a lot of drrrruuuums

Hi Robert,
I didn’t want to “spam/go offtopic” the interesting comments about the 2box on your latest YouTube (Maschine+) video and I prefer to continue the conversation here.
Like I said, the blackbox can multi-sample every sound up to 16 layers (which was going to be my option for a dawless setup). But the maschine software can also handle multi-sampling (up to 128 sounds for each pad!) and I assume that the maschine+ will be equally capable.
Didn’t you consider sampling different velocities of your AD2 that could eventually be used within maschine+?
Or do you think that the quality will decrease?
Or maybe too much of a hassle?
Or maybe this is not even possible
One of the reasons I was going for the blackbox was to record and create my own sounds and samples out of pieces of wood, metal, chainsaws, etc…
I don’t know much about this things and there is an ocean of information to swallow before I even attempt to do stuff.
Thank you very much for your input.

Honestly I have not really gotten to the bottom of this myself yet.
One thing I would not do is put in a lot of work before NI releases the features you need. That seems risky and by the time they release the features there might be something better.
That Blackbox you mention, if that just works, it has velocity layers as well as Round Robin samples… that sounds like a solution. Still a bit DIY and something you really have to dedicate some time into but it sounds like a fun project and a rewarding one as well if you get everything to work.
For me personally this is something I’d have to check out. First step is to probably get something like an Alesis standalone drum module and see if I can get that to work and then move on from there.
The problem right now is that all of this stuff falls into the “expensive” category and seems to be a little more difficult to set up which makes it all a bit less appealing to someone like me who wants to bring finger drumming to the masses
I do want to get to the bottom if this though… I’m just a bit reluctant to go down the rabbit hole, just like I’m reluctant to things like improving an akai mpd218 by applying electrical tape. It might be a good solution but then all of a sudden Im the guy who knows how to “mod” your pad controller and ill have all the responsibility and questions from people to deal with.
Let’s keep each other in the loop, I think with a bunch of expirementers on these message boards we can take this next hurdle!

The absolutely must see review finally arrived
Special attention at minute 25:00 when he talks about Kontakt user content, that is not supported by NI but it is allowed with some limitations. I guess this leaves the door open for future updates that will fully support user .NKS instruments. Also the fact that SD card disk streaming support is present (but not officially supported I guess), indicates that we might see bigger instruments (more than the 4gb of ram) work, like our beloved drums VSTs, which is currently not possible now because you can’t run locked instruments. But there is hope and I have time to wait for that
