I haven’t done any finger drumming for a few weeks and thought I’d have a quick go before bed tonight. Not really sure what’s happened, but none of the pads are triggering the right kit piece. For example, pad 2 and 3 are normally mapped to the kick drum but they are not triggering anything. If I look in the midi mapping in AD2, it should be triggering note 36, but it’s triggering 14.
The Mikro is set to the same mapping I setup ages ago in Native Instruments Contoller Editor and all the custom pad colours are correct. I’ve tried selecting another template and then going back to the one I normally use.
AD2 is set to the same User Preset I created ages ago.
It’s not working properly in EZdrummer either so makes me think it’s something to do with the Mikro. At the moment, every pad just triggers the hi-hat even though each pad shows as a different note in NI Controller Editor.
Finally, when I go into Reaper, the Mikro is visible under Midi Inputs in Preferences and has a blank status (other devices except my audio interface show as not present), but when I arm a track and try to select it as an input device, it’s not there so I can’t get any sound.
I’ve tried restarting my laptop, unplugging the mikro, but the issue still persists.
Has anyone experienced something similar and/or got any suggestions please?
Update re Reaper and I know I only just posted, but leaving this in as I don’t understand what happened to cause this. The Mikro, although visible, no longer had “Enable input from this device selected”. I hadn’t touched that setting since I first got the Mikro back in July.
Guessing I’m probably going to have to either reset or recreate the mapping in NI Controller Editor.
I had something similar a few months ago. Luckily, I always save my Mikro configurations in the Controller Editor, so I just restored the config that way. I find the Mikro to be a bit glitchy anyway, so I just assumed it was yet another glitch.
Thanks Ben. I’d saved the overall configuration from the File menu, but when I went to restore it, it said the last changed date was 30th Dec. I don’t recall saving it for months so perhaps even that file got screwed up somehow.
I’ve remapped and Exported the Template which is hopefully a safe guard. I even noticed when remapping though that it almost instantly had issues. For example, by cymbal 2 and 3 on pads 1 and 4 were no longer cymbals and I think my toms changed to something else as well. I think I was in EZdrummer to check the standard mapping and when I went to AD2, it mucked it up. I originally thought that maybe my mapping in AD2 was different, but after resetting the mapping in NI controller editor as per EZdrummer, I didn’t have to update the mapping in AD2. Pretty sure this happened a couple of times.
It’s been a couple of days since I remapped and just went back and they seem ok. Hopefully the saved Template will help if this happens again.
Glad that you were able to fix it up. I know there are definitely bugs in MIDI mode, because if I leave my Mikro powered on for a few hours, it will regularly end up with different colours on the pads and the control strip (touching the pads and the strip resets the colours to the correct values), and sometimes when playing the pads will stop changing colour when hit (though they continue to send the right MIDI notes). Native Instruments’ support don’t seem to care very much about MIDI mode!
I agree with the other poster who said Maschine Mikro mk3 is buggy and changes colors. If unplug the MIDI cord it should reboot and the colors should be correct. This happens every couple of days for me.
As far as losing the key mapping, I suggest reselecting the mapped page within NI controller editor. Maybe select another page and then go back to the correct page. That should cause a reset, I would think.
It’s been a while since it did it now, but pretty sure what was in NI controller editor was stuffed.
I used to just leave mine plugged in so it would turn on everytime I used my computer even if I wasn’t planning on using the Mk3. I now only plug it in when I want to use it (which isn’t very often at the moment as I’m mainly playing guitar).
