The other day I was experimenting with putting percussion elements to the upright bass (like slapping the instrument body). Then I played some nice funky beat over it, and some jazzy chilly piano in the end.

It’s a plugin, but one of those that is on the sample basis, so you can play whatever you want with a midi keyboard and it will still sound like the real instrument. It’s called Ample Bass Upright III.
Very nice. I have the Trillian upright bass. Not bad either, but it might need a refresh after 10 years.
