Do any of you all use a pedal when finger drumming?

It’s crossed my mind that a foot pedal wouldn’t be crazy to use when finger drumming. It’d make contact with a lot of acoustic drum ideas that drummers use, especially with fills. Has anyone gone down this road at all and can comment on it?

On the one hand, does a finger drumming really need a kick bass? On the other, maybe? :man_shrugging:

Thanks,

Not me, but I remember someone using zendrum + kick and hihat pedal on YouTube.

Maybe it isn’t just fingerdrumming anymore but who care? Especially if you already play drums and you know how to use your feet!

Wow! Thanks, Marco. Indeed, the drummer has the standard two pedats.

It looks like a pretty cool instrument. Is Zendrum still a thing? I found the website, and it appears to be functioning, but any conversation about this instrument seems to be pretty old (10ish years or more). I guess people are just happy with more standard midi controllers for finger drumming because of price?

I bought one from the guy 2 years ago. He was building them in his shop near Atlanta, GA. So yeah… for as far as I know he is still building ZenDrums.

Very cool, Robert. Which one did you purchase, and how are the “pads” (not sure they are actually pads)? Have you ever gotten into using a peddle for your own playing? I can see a lot of upsides and a few downsides. As someone who never learned drumming, I’m curious, but mostly seem to be doing fine without. But it’s one of those, “I don’t know what I don’t know” things.
