Get up - James Brown My very first time recording with a pad

Hello there,
This is my very first recording while fingerdrumming. I tried this steady groove trying to lock in and playing both (finger)drum and bass and listening to the metronome. Not so easy indeed!

Nice! I checked it out on Youtube. Good job.

Groovy! Very well done!

Yes! Awesome, thank you for sharing!

I think playing bass and drums is a very powerful combination.

Becoming a better bass player makes you a better drummer and becoming a better drummer makes you a better bass player, so it’s a buy one, get one for free kind of situation in terms of value for practice time

Overdubbing yourself is also notoriously hard by the way, if you don’t quantize afterwards. In my first 2 years of finger drumming, if it was for a “real” production, the iterative quantize option was basically always used to get things more together after the fact.

So yeah, I think it’s going really well, keep it up, and please share more!

Yep, harder then I tought! Timing has always beee a struggle for me, so why not torturing me doing this kind of stuff🤣!

Putting a click track on It helped me a lot and basically I had to record the drum without the vst sound. With the real drum sound I always was off but without any drum sound I got it at first try! I think you pointed out the importante of practicing without sound…

I hope to record more of these. With the stem separation and the auto click track function in logic it’s super fun and ready to play in 2-3 minutes!

Nice work man, very tasty. What did you use for the backing track?

Hi, I usually use the stem separation plugin inside Logic pro 11, but there are many others like lalal.ai, moises, landr… Some free and open source and some for money.

The Logic pro one may not be the best on the market, but for me it’s good enough. It’s super fast and I only need one click and a few seconds to get 4 stem tracks on my daw…

Thank you. I’ll have to try one of the others as I’m on Windows.

What you had sounded pretty good to me.
