Hey everyone I thought it will be handy to have a place where we can share some inspirational books, movies etc that will help us as drummers.
Yesterday I watched “Whiplash”. It was really interesting. it has a tension of an action movie but the story is around a young and very determined drummer

I mostly like non-fiction books about self development when it comes to learning music. A really nice one I think is “Range” by David Epstein. It’s about focusing on one thing vs having a broader approach and why sometimes the latter will actually be better than just trying to become good at one particular thing. I have tried both and I feel for example that as a multi-instrumentalist I’ve improved a lot more and a lot faster than when I was 100% focused on guitar back in the day.
There’s a response to the Whiplash movie by Adam Neely that I (mostly) agree with. One thing I can say speaking for myself is that when there’s blood on your equipment, something is going horribly wrong
