I listened to this video (more because of Take 5 than because of Nick Drake) and recenty to another talking about Mission Impossible soudtrack. Just wanted to say that I want to try 5 / 4 time signature !
Is there anything in future lessons that I have not come across yet ?
Ah no, would be cool if I had one but I do not have 5/4 in the songs / lessons. It’s all divisions of 3 or four. (or 3, 4, 6, 8, 12, 16).
I do think that there should be enough cross rhythm / odd meter content out there on the YouTube to quickly help you play some sort of odd meter beat. My advice would be to put away the pad controller and try to drum a 5/4 on the table with your hands first. When you got the base rhythm down you’ll notice it becomes easier to drum over it.
5/4 >> Pa-pabada-pa-pa | Pa-pabada-pa-pa
74 >> Pabada-pabada-pa-pa-pa | Pabada-pabada-pa-pa-pa
Saying stuff like that out loud also makes you internalize it more.
