Midi poly grid andoid app

Greetings to all friends of the community. I have been playing piano completely amateurly as a hobby for the last 5 years. I want to get more involved with finger drumming so that I can make some of my own loops as backing tracks for the songs I play on the piano.
Unfortunately, at this moment I do not have the financial means to buy a midi pad controller, I looked for other alternatives. So I found the midi poly grind android app to try it on my windows 10 pc with the akai mpc beats. I will use a samsung galaxy A8 tablet as a midi pad controller via a usb-otg connection to the computer. The tablet supports midi data transfer.
So I want to ask if anyone has tried something similar and it works. In a quick google search I found that the mpc beats is compatible with any midi-usb device. Will this temporary solution help me start finger drumming at least until I can buy a real midi pad controller?

Android devices sometimes have awful latency (touchscreen, audio). But it does depend on the device a lot. Probably you have to try it out to see if it works well enough. Would be interested how well it works!

Another app could be this: Koala Sampler – Apps bei Google Play

It let’s you also sample / record sounds and you can play it right on the device itself, making it a standalone groovebox. Can be really fun and creative.
