Are there particular ADPacks you really like and use most frequently? Or are there some that add particularly much to versatility?

I personally like the Funk Kit and Fairfax v2 a lot.

The Reel Maschines ADPack I found a bit disappointing, something like Session Percussion feels a better fit to me. If you want e-drum sounds, then using samples gives you more flexibility. I wish that AD2 had some sample loading, but that’s probably why they also have XO.

- I like the hi hats from “Black Velvet” a lot.
- The sound of the Indie kit is very useful.
- Vintage dry came in handy quite a lot.
- The retroplex, blue oyster, black oyster duo is a lot of fun to play with. The retroplex is this weird thing where it sounds crappy but still in a fun way.

Kits I’ve bought but never really used:

- Soul R&B
- The standard Pop kit
- United Heavy
- United Pop
- Boutique mallets
- Reel machines indeed also not much used

I don’t have AD2, but if you use you might find this presents useful. They are free at the moment

I’m still trying to decide. I got the Custom XL Collection and have only picked 3 so far and they were the 3 recommended for the course:

- Black Oyster
- Fairfax 1
- Funk

In terms of music I listen to the most, it’s metal and hard rock, but still listen to many other genres. I also own EZDrummer 2 and 3 so have both the base offerings in those as well as 4 EZX’s (Big Rock Drums, Metal Machine, Progressive and Rock).

Not sure which other 3 to pick.

Probably get:

- Metal

Other considerations:

- United Heavy
- Indie
- Session percussion (could possible remove this my options if I chose individual kit pieces like the Brazillian Pandeiro maybe the Timbau and/or Djembe)
- Black Velvet

I still need to pick my 6 MIDIpaks and 6 Kitpiece packs.

I honestly think your list contains great kits. I have all of them and actually use all of those. So, yeah great choice.

I use Metal and Studio Rock and really like them. I think my next purchase will be Black Velvet and Black Oyster. Of course, I am hopeful of that Black Friday sale that I think may happen! Keeping my eyes open and fingers crossed!

Anyone tried out the new Vintage Dry already? Considering getting it if a good Black Friday deal for custom collection comes along.

I just picked it up. They had an early bird Black Friday with 60% off ADpaks. I haven’t spent a lot of time with it, but the little bit I have, it sounds great.

Thought the 60% was good, but if you need multiple, the 50% off they have on Collection is better value.

I also finished selecting my ADpaks as part of my Collection and got:

- United Heavy
- Black Velvet

Just need to finish picking the midi and kit pieces. Kit pieces will most likely be all from the non standard drum pieces. I use midi as well as playing as still have a lot to learn with playing.

Also picked it up now. I still have to spend more time with it, but the Vintage Dead ADpack does fit nicely to my own preferences. I think especially the presets have been very nicely designed and bring in a lot of versatility.

Still don’t know what to get with the other 2 ADPacks now from my custom bundle. Not sure if “Vintage Dry” would be a complement or rather redunant. I also like the preview of Modern Soul and R&B, but maybe it would be smart to wait - maybe XLN releases more ADPacks in the nearer future?

Tough choice as to whether to grab something now or wait. I thought the same thing with completing my selections as maybe they are going to have a release streak given they came out with v2.5 and then Vintage Dead. I think it had been a while since they release anything so might be a way to generate more money so they can maybe invest in v3.0.

For kit pieces, it makes sense that I grab these as all the rest are traditional drum pieces and I have multiple Adpaks now.

Between the stuff I got for EZdrummer a few years ago and the stuff I now have with Addictive Drums 2.5, I’ve got more than enough to keep me entertained for a long time to come.

I have “Vintage Dry” and it’s very good. I will be picking up “Vintage Dead” this week but my initial thought is these may be slightly overlapping (not quite redundant but in the same zip code). Also getting Black Oyster. Need to decide between Fairfax 2, Black Velvet and Indie to round out the 3rd… choices choices.

If you get both, I’d be interested how they compare against each other 🙂

What I do like about Vintage Dead is that it comes with more presets and “pieces” than older packs. Due to that it might also be a bit more versatile and you get a bit more for your money.

Ah ha, sorry. Yesterday was the day after my work Christmas party so wasn’t really with it 🍺🍺🤢.

I liked it, but liked others more and thought I could get similar sounds to Dry from what I picked. I’ve completed my collection and 1 extra Black Friday purchase and now have:

- Black Oyster
- Fairfax 1
- Funk
- Metal
- United Heavy
- Black Velvet
- Vintage Dead

Those, combined with the African kit pieces should keep me busy for a long time.

That’s a good list. I chose Indie and Vintage Dead to add this year and after playing for a white, my definite top 6 ADpaks would be …

- Black Oyster
- Fairfax 1
- Funk
- United Heavy
- Indie
- Vintage Dead

I have Vintage Dry too (useful) but if I could only have one it would be Vintage Dead. Don’t get me wrong, I love Black Velvet but I can get pretty close with United Heavy for my needs. Not considering percussion, the 6 above give you alot of options and variations for almost anything you could want maybe with the exception of Retroplex which is sort of a one trick pony … but it’s a good trick. I’ll probably own that next year … sigh.
